| Subjects: | Scientists ask us to believe in amazing things, such as evolution and the 'big bang' theory. People who arent scientists also ask us to believe in amazing things like ghosts, visitors from other planets, and mind-reading. Why should we believe the scientists but not these other people? And what exactly is science? 'Science and the Paranormal' is the title of my talks on this subject, which I have given in schools and at public meetings for over 25 years. The talks cover a range of different claims by scientists and by those who believe in paranormal phenomena and are accompanied by PowerPoint slides, demonstrations and audience participation. The purpose of the talks are educative but also to have some fun! I ask for a donation to Sheffield Parkinson charity. |
