Subjects: | It's Christmas! Christmas presentation of readings, mostly a range of poetry with a little prose. I offer a reading of Christmas poems which reflect the diverse nature of that festive period from the religious to the whimsical, recognising its deep significance to Christians and its importance to families, especially children, as I consider Christmas from different viewpoints. Wilfred Owen: the man and his poetry War is one of the most passionate of subjects and rightly, therefore, a frequent subject of poetry. World War 1 is arguably the most frequently recorded conflict and Wilfred Owen is probably the best known of the war poets. She offers a reading of a selection of his work with some insight into his life. Tales from the Schoolroom We have all sat in the classroom and memories are varied but I take a journey through 39 years of teaching, reflecting on children I have met and incidents I remember. Sometimes humorous, sometimes not, I quickly realised that the title teacher is not always accurate as I have learned as much as I have ever taught. |
